It really was easy!

February 27, 2009

After months of struggling with my old printer, and months of worry about whether or not I could hook a new printer up to the network, I finally broke down a week ago and ordered a new printer.

I didn’t want to, but I had no choice.  The printer is not in the studio, it’s in my husband’s office.  And it would not print unless you fed it one sheet of paper at a time.  So every time I needed to print from the studio I had to send it to the printer, run over to the printer, and feed the paper in one by one.  Not very productive.

And not being one to easily change electronics (hey the newer it is the more confusing it can get!), I procrastinated, and did my research, and procrastinated a bit more.

Finally biting the bullet and buying this printer:

lexmar-4550-printerThe Lexmark 4550.  Why this one?  Because the price was in my range, and the reviews ALL said it was really easy to hook up to your wireless network.

So I waited while it was shipped, all the while wondering if I’ve gotten myself  in over my head.  Will I have to call my computer guy out to hook this up?  What have I done?

The printer came today and IT REALLY WAS EASY! Put in the installation CD, follow the screens, temporarily hook one cable to the computer and WA-LA!!!!!  It’s done!!!!   It’s hooked up!!!!  TO BOTH COMPUTERS!!!!!

I’m so proud of me!!!!  LOL    I’m off now to print out all those things I’ve been putting off for the last while!!!!!!

Wednesday update

February 25, 2009

Wednesday, middle of the week, and we had sunshine today.  I got out for a couple minutes this afternoon and snapped some pics.

The daffodils are in bloom:

And a close-up:

The lilies are sprouting!   (note to self…..start weeding!)

But before you think too badly of me for posting all this green stuff,  here’s a sign I’ll soon have to think about mowing:

wild-onions-fe-25th First mow of the season is always to cut down the wild onions and chop up the remaining leaves.

And I am working, but the backing is just a little large for my longarm table:

Yes, this leaves me no room to park the machine off the quilt.  So what I do is take a piece of aluminum foil, fold it until it’s 4x thick, curl up the edges, put a piece of batting inside it and lay it under the needle bar when I leave at night.  That way, just in case there is some drip, it doesn’t get on the customer quilt.

A great mail day!

February 24, 2009

Wow, yesterday was a great mail day!!!!!!  My mailbox was full of fun, thoughtful, and terriffic surprises.

I received a card from a dear friend of mine who lives up north.  The imagery on the card is wonderful…..and her note inside is even more precious to me.

I received a package of seeds from Karen!!!  Thanks Karen…..they’re so pretty even before I plant them!  Looking forward to lots of monarchs this year!

And I received my “Winter Skinny Swap” pages from one of my art groups.  We did an exchange of 4″x7″ pages depicting the theme of winter.  This was my first participation in a “paper” based swap and I truly enjoyed it.  I’m looking forward to the next swap even more now!

Here’s a picture of what all my pages look like laid out on the carpet…..

I’ll be taking time to go through them one by one when I sit for quiet time (as I did yesterday when I got them).   I need to make a fabric covered binder for them like I have my fiber art postcards in.  Hmmm, maybe one with a winter theme?
